One of last year's standout drone albums, Tape Chants found Gregg Kowalsky putting the cassette format to exceptionally good use, abandoning his genre's computer-manipulated comfort zone in favor of lo-fi, handcrafted timbres fashioned from pitch-tweaked tape playback and the most elemental of recorded sound sources.

This new cassette from Arbor (which, it should be pointed out, is limited to just 125 copies and is already sold-out at source) documents the early works that led up to the eventual Kranky album, finding Kowalsky
